Job Opportunity – Mechanic

Due to increased workload we are seeking a keen and motivated mechanic to join our busy workshop.  The ideal candidate will have experience within the industry or alternatively someone who has some relevant industry experience and is looking for a new challenge.

Job Title – Horticultural Mechanic

Purpose of Role – Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, your duties will include the repair and maintenance of a variety of equipment and machinery coming into the workshops.  This varies widely from pedestrian walk behind mowers to larger ride on tractors, gang mowers and smaller 2 stroke machines such as chain saws, strimmers and hedgecutters.

Essential skills, Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge of servicing and repair of garden and small agricultural machinery, this can range from domestic machinery to commercial machines.

Ability to diagnose problems and faults i.e. Petrol and diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical faults.

Has the ability to work within a team and also alone using own initiative when required.

Health and Safety awareness is essential.

Full clean drivers license, ability to tow trailers.  Forklift license desirable but not essential.

This role may suit an individual from an engineering/mechanical background who is looking to diversify and learn new skills.

Job description

Service and repair of a variety of horticultural, agricultural and mechanical machinery and equipment.  This can include welding and fabrication, mechanical investigations, electrical work, hydraulics, LPG systems.

Able to write brief job report summaries after inspection and repair.  

Work in a safe and efficient manner and complying with all health and safety procedures in place.

Computer skills desirable but not essential.

Work hours

Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm, 42.5 hour week.

Salary

Dependent on experience and knowledge.
